Stay In and Stay Warm This Valentine’s Day

With The Perfect At-Home Date Night

Going out on Valentine’s Day can become quite a big production for many of us. From trying to book reservations at your favorite restaurant on this holiday to dealing with the frigid weather, being able to stay in with that special someone has become a favorite tradition of ours.

Nothing speaks the perfect at-home Valentine’s Day date night more than a heart-shaped pizza, wine, dessert and roses. What if we told you that you don’t have to spend a minute more than 30-40 minutes to make the entire menu and centerpieces?

We suggest purchasing the ingredients of the pizza and dessert as well as the wine the week of Valentine’s Day prior to the day itself so you aren’t rushed the day of. We do however encourage stopping by the store to pick up the 2 dozen roses for the centerpieces either the day of or day before, so the flowers are new and fresh.

Our at-home Valentine’s Day date night menu is simple and delicious with a touch of love. The menu includes 2 very easy-to-make recipes. A heart-shaped pizza and chocolate strawberry yogurt tarts.

In order to be the most proactive with time, make the chocolate strawberry yogurt tarts first and transfer them to the refrigerator until you are ready to serve dessert. The reason that you will want to make the dessert first is because while the pizza is baking in the oven, you can make the centerpieces for the table.

When it comes to the main course, who doesn’t love pizza and hearts on Valentine’s Day? This is why our heart-shaped pizza is always a menu favorite on this occasion. For the wine connoisseurs out there, if you prefer white wine, we recommend pairing the pizza with a Sauvignon Blanc. If you and your special someone are bigger fans of the red wine family, we recommend a Merlot.

As the pizza is baking in the oven, you can make your centerpieces. The reason that we love making the floral centerpieces ourselves is because adds a personal touch and is economically friendly. For the centerpieces, purchase 2 dozen roses in 2 different colors to give the arrangements a bit more dimension. The 2 vases that you need for the arrangements can be any shape that you have at home, but you will need 1 tall vase and 1 short vase. Along with the vases, you can recycle any leftover ribbon that you saved from the holidays or other occasions for these floral arrangements.

The first thing you will want to do is split the 2 dozen roses into 2 groups with both colors mixed. Then you will cut the stems of the first group to fit the tall vase and the stems of the other group to fit the small vase. You will also want to cut off all the leaves. Once you do that, fill the tall vase with the first group of roses and fill the vase with water. You can cut off a piece of ribbon and tie it around the vase to make it more vibrant.

Before putting the other group of roses into the small vase, tie the stems of the roses together with another piece of the ribbon. This will allow the roses to stay in place and fill up the vase nicely. Once this is done, put them into the small vase and fill the vase with water.

At this point, the pizza will be done baking. Before taking the pizza out of the oven, place the centerpieces in middle of the table that you will be serving the food on, so the ambiance is set to perfection. Just pour 2 glasses of your wine of choice and bon appétit!
