Lamb Burgers with Tzatziki Sauce

Ingredients for Lamb Burgers

1/4 cup bread crumbs

1/4 cup onion, minced

1/4 cup ricotta cheese

1 large egg, beaten

1 clove garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh mint, minced

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 pound ground lamb

Ingredients for Tzatziki

1/2 English cucumber, grated

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons fresh mint, minced

Juice of 1 lemon

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Optional: 4 hamburger buns


01In a bowl, add bread crumbs, onion, feta, egg, garlic, mint, 1 teaspoon salt, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, red pepper flakes, and ground lamb and mix together well. Shape into 4 equal patties.
02In a second bowl, mix together grated cucumber, yogurt, mint, lemon, oil, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper.
03Heat a grill over medium heat and lightly oil the grates.
04Add the burgers to the grill and cook on one side for 5 minutes. Flip and cook on other side for 5 minutes more. Transfer to a platter and serve with tzatziki and optional buns.
