Gouda Mac and Cheese

Gouda Mac and Cheese is a delicious twist on the classic comfort food, combining the rich and creamy texture of macaroni and cheese with the flavor of Gouda, a cheese with smooth and nutty notes, known for its melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The cheese’s subtle sweetness adds depth to the creamy sauce, creating a luscious and indulgent experience, resulting in a comforting and flavorful dish that elevates the ordinary mac and cheese to a more memorable culinary delight.

Ingredients

4 cups elbow pasta

4 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all purpose flour

4 cups whole milk

1/2 tablespoon mustard

2 cups gouda cheese, shredded

2 teaspoon paprika

1 cup assorted frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)

Salt and pepper

Preparation

01Boil pasta until about 2 minutes before it is al dente. Be sure to add salt while it's boiling and set aside.
02Add butter to a large pan on medium heat. When it's melted, add in the all purpose flour. Whisk until the flour is cooked through.
03Pour in your milk. After about 2 minutes you will see it thickening up. Add the mustard, followed by all the cheese.
04Add the paprika, salt and black pepper per taste.
05Mix the pasta into the cheese sauce, along with the frozen vegetables. Let everything cook through together until the vegetables are fully cooked and soft. Serve and enjoy!
