1/2 teaspoon salt

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg, room temperature

1 tablespoon milk

Cream Cheese Frosting Dip Ingredients

6 oz cream cheese, softened

6 tablespoons butter, softened

3 cups confectioners sugar

3/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

01To make the chocolate football cookies, place the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into a bowl and whisk to combine. Set aside.
02Place the softened butter and sugar into the bowl of a stand mixer. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy.
03Add the egg and beat on medium speed until thoroughly combined.
04Add the flour and cocoa powder mixture and mix on low speed.
05Add the milk and mix on low speed until the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.
06Wrap the dough tightly and refrigerate for at least one hour or up to three days. The dough can also be frozen for up to three months.
07Allow the dough to come to room temperature and roll it to 1/4 inch.
08Cut the cookies using a football-shaped cookie cutter.
09Bake the cookies at 350 F for 9-10 minutes.
10Allow the cookies to cool completely.
11To make the cream cheese frosting dip, place softened cream cheese into the bowl of a stand mixer and beat on medium speed until smooth.
12Add the softened butter, about 2 tablespoons at a time, and continue to beat until smooth.
13Add about 1/2 the powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Continue to mix until thoroughly combined.
14Add the rest of the powdered sugar and continue to mix on medium speed until the frosting is light and fluffy.
15Place a couple of scoops of the frosting into a piping bag and cut a small hole. If you don’t have a piping bag, use a sandwich bag and cut a small hole in the corner of the bag.
16Use the frosting to pipe details on the football cookies. Enjoy!
