About Penne with Vodka Sauce

Ingredients

1 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated

1 pound dried penne pasta

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

1/3 cup vodka

1 can crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)

1 teaspoon crushed red pepper

1 tablespoon Italian seasonings

1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

01Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add the garlic and saute until just golden brown.

02Stir in vodka, heat gently for 2 minutes.

03Carefully add the tomatoes and seasonings.

04Increase heat to high and cook until thick, stirring to break up the tomatoes, about 5 minutes.

05Stir in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Stir to combine. Simmer on low.

06Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add the pasta, and cook according to directions on the package. Drain the pasta in a colander and place it back into the pot.

07Immediately add the vodka sauce and cook it over medium-low heat for 3 minutes, until most of the sauce has been absorbed in the pasta

08Once on serving plates, top off the dish with grated parmesan cheese.
