Optional toppings: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried onion and garlic flakes, etc.
Preparation
01Preheat oven to 375 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly coat with cooking spray.
02In a large bowl, combine the flour and yogurt. Mix together with a rubber spatula; it will look like small crumbles. If you don’t have self-rising flour, add 2 teaspoons baking powder and 3/4 teaspoon baking soda per 1 cup all-purpose flour.
03Lightly dust a work surface and place the dough on it. Gently knead the dough until it comes together and is no longer sticky. Do not overwork the dough or the bagels will be dense and tough.
04Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and gently press through the middle of the ball to make a hole, then gently stretch the dough into a bagel shape. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
05Using a pastry brush, brush the bagels with egg wash and sprinkle with toppings, if using.
06Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Let cool for about 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
