Fudge Ribbon Cake

Ingredients

1 standard size chocolate or devils food cake mix

Ingredients for Ribbon Layer

1 cup (8-ounces) Ricotta cheese

1/4 cup sugar

1 egg

2 tablespoons milk

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Ingredients for Glaze

1 package (6-ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter

2 tablespoons light corn syrup

Preparation

01Butter and flour a 12-cup bundt pan or the bottom of a 13-inch by 9-inch baking pan.
02Combine cake ingredients and mix, following directions on cake mix package.
03In a small bowl, combine ribbon layer ingredients; beat until smooth and creamy.
04Spread half of the cake batter in prepared baking pan.
05Spoon and spread ribbon mixture evenly over cake batter.
06Spoon and spread remaining batter evenly over ribbon mixture.
07Bake according to cake package directions.
08Cool completely and remove from pan, following package directions.
09Combine glaze ingredients and heat over low heat, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted. Cool slightly and spread over top of cake.
